Objective: UI Design for an OTT app for Spectrum Sportsnet that prominently features games from teams such as the Lakers, Sparks, Galaxy, and Dodgers, as well as original podcasts and short-form content.

Challenges:

  • Unique Technology Integration: The app required the implementation of distinctive live and replay technology, necessitating the creation of custom icon sets. These icons had to be intuitive and seamlessly integrated into the user interface.
  • Access and Paywall: The user experience needed to be accessible and inviting while incorporating a paywall. Users would need to sign in with their cable account to access the content, requiring a smooth and secure authentication process.
  • Neutral Marketing and Design: The app’s marketing and design had to remain neutral, avoiding the highlight of any specific team or player. This posed a challenge in creating engaging and attractive visuals without leveraging the popularity of individual teams or players.
  • Content Variety: Balancing the display of various types of content, including live games, replays, podcasts, and short-form videos, was crucial. The app design had to ensure easy navigation and a cohesive viewing experience across different content formats.
  • User Interface Design: Ensuring the app was user-friendly and visually appealing, despite the constraints on team-specific marketing, required innovative design solutions. The interface needed to be intuitive for all users, providing quick access to the diverse content available.
  • Scalability: The app had to be scalable to accommodate future expansions and additional content types, ensuring long-term viability and flexibility in content management.
